Hi, hope you all are doing great.

Well, here we are, to the latest article in the “Interview Experiences Series”, my interview experience with TapClicks.

What is TapClicks?

TapClicks logo

TapClicks is a marketing technology company, with headquarters located in San Jose, California. TapClicks’ TapAnalytics marketing operations platform is focused on marketing workflow, performance analytics, client reporting and data.

How did I land an interview?

I was actually not aware of the company before. I was applying for several companies and one day I received a phone call from the TapClicks HR team. It was a call about the openings at TapClicks & that they liked my profile. Since I was receiving lot of calls from various HR personnel, at first I thought that it might also be a similar call, but as the call went I realized that this is a genuine call & I started gaining interest. The person on the other side said that they would be sending an email with the detailed information about the opportunity.

I did receive an email, with a little overview about the company, product and detailed information about the opportunity.

That same day, I received another call from the HR. That was a normal call, mainly focused to know about me, my background and explained about the interview process at TapClicks and scheduled first technical round interview.

Interview Rounds

I interviewed for Full-Stack Developer position (part of engineering team), so the interview rounds mentioned below are for the same. Interview rounds for other positions may vary.

  • Technical Round
  • Online Coding Test
  • Panel Interview

Technical Round

This was a 30 mins online interview with the Director of Engineering at TapClicks.

Before this one, I had been part of several interviews but this interview will be on the top spot.

The interview started with introduction about myself, about the company and the interviewer and then there were several other things which I got to know about the company. The company’s work culture, geographical presence of the teams, how teams were working before the pandemic, and how they are working now, TapClicks India office etc.,

I felt it as a normal conversation between two people, talking about various things and knowing about each other.

What I liked most about this interview is that whatever I was being informed in the interview is 100% true. The way teams work, and the company culture etc., Most probably, this is the first time where I was able to know a lot about a company in the first round itself. I really liked the way interviewer explained about many things in detail, and made it very easy for me.

Online Coding Test

After a day, I received an invitation to take HackerRank based online coding test.

The test consisted of 2 questions & I had 2 days to complete it.

The difficulty of the test was average/above-average, and the main objective of this test is to know how you arrive to a solution for a problem than seeing if you have completed all the questions with 100% accuracy.

Panel Interview

About 4 days after the Online Coding Test, I received a phone call from the HR informing me that I have cleared the coding test and that I am moved to the next round which is Panel Interview.

I have also received an email with the interview date and other instructions in it.

When I was informed that it is a panel interview, I thought that there will be two people but when I found that the panel consists of 4 people I had mixed feelings, was excited and started feeling pressure.

Excited because, for the first time I am going to give an interview with 4 people on the other side of the table. Felt pressure because, there will be 4 people on the other side.

Yes, the same thing was the reason for two different emotions.

And just like that the Panel Interview day has arrived. Majority of the panel were from the USA, so the interview was in the evening in the Indian time.

Panel consisted of Sr. Vice President, Sr. Director of Engineering, Director of Engineering and Sr. Full Stack Developer. And everyone made sure that I felt comfortable throughout the interview. I was worried a lot before and at the start of the interview too, but the way they conducted the interview was very remarkable.

Overall, the interview was smooth and was comfortable from a candidate’s point of view.

About a week after the panel interview, the HR informed me that the panel decided in my favor and they would want to schedule a HR interview to discuss about various things 😀 (if you know you know).

The whole interview process from the first call to the offer roll out took less than a month 😀.

If you have interviewed for a job recently, you will definitely know that it is faster than what most of the companies take to shortlist and roll out offers.

After completing all the required processes, I have joined TapClicks and have completed 5 months at the company 💻 and looking forward for a lot more.

Trust me, whatever I was being told during the interviews about the company culture or about the work, it is exactly the same inside the company too.

The culture in the company and the opportunity to work with people from various parts of the world is simply amazing.

One of the best parts is the monthly Science Fair, and various other team meetings and activities which gives you a chance to interact with people from other departments.
